The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It will also leave them spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. best budget robot vacuum cleaner can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a little more noise and a little more cost it's a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. robot cleaner amazon has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
